Last day in Rhode Island

It’s our last day in Rhode Island and we wanted to show you co-founder @mermaidmaggie ‘s family farm on Aquidneck Island where she grew up and where her parents still live and grow incredibly beautiful organic crops.

The 19th century farmhouse and barn have been restored and modified over the years and the 4 acre property is covered in ancient apple, pear and plumb trees as well as other New England hardwoods.

Maggies father tends a bountiful kitchen garden with high yielding squashes, beans, tomatoes, peppers, onions, cabbage, lettuce, & herbs of all kind that keep visitors and family fed for much of the year.

Maggie’s mother tends a sprawling flower garden that stretches across much of the farm – mostly native flowers whose perennial blooms, winter deaths and spring resurrections still amaze me (I’m a native of the tropics). All of this so close to the sea you can smell it. I’ve grown to love this farm deeply and I’m glad it’ll be in my life for quite some time to come.
