Busy restoring the farm.

Been super busy restoring the farm. After the hurricane we realized how dangerous the invasive elms on our property had become. Plenty came down in the storm taking fruit trees with them and damaging our out buildings. We decided to cut practically all of them down. But the good news is for every tree that we cut down 4-5 more fruit trees will be planted in their place. And everything will be used; branches turned to firewood, leaves turned to compost and logs turned into bio-barriers for new mounds. Special thanks to Maggie’s brother and father who flew in from Rhode Island to spend the whole week doing tree work for free. Though the pain of losing practically the entire food forest hasn’t quite abated we’re stoked to have a blank canvas to replant what will be an even more productive ecosystem.
